Due to time restraints I am a bit conflicted on whether or not I should create a new background for each level (that was my original intention), but I've come to notice that the biggest inspiration for my game (New! Super Mario Bros.) reuses almost all of their backgrounds. In terms of Super Mario bro's, the main change for each level are the platforms and obstacles. Asset wise, the background remains the same, or another layer of something appears above or below the original art to make it seem as if it's new. I'm thinking of incorporating something similar since I am running out of time.
From the beginning my backup plan was to change the colours of the backgrounds I already have, add in something new (just like Super Mario bros), warp the images or invert the colours (the last two fits the small narrative that the game might have). This week I have started working on the first world background and am planning to adopt the Mario approach for the next level.
I'm low-key stressed, but it's fine I'm trying my best to progress and power through!!
Ok bye
