More narrative development #4

This week we continued our work on Miro, developing Act 3 and refining Acts 1 and 2. As discussed in the previous blog we had some initial ideas for Act 3, but nothing final. However, this week we expanded it while keeping the "sneak and kill" gameplay we had for previous acts. We've decided to incorporate the protagonist getting to the auction house as gameplay which could potentially have a cutscene of the protagonist arriving at the scene and scoping out the auction house, looking for the best way to sneak in. Act 3 is very gameplay based as it's mostly about getting to the auction house, sneaking in past the guards and getting to the final boss. We haven't finished yet because we were thinking of adding something in between the sneak and confronting the final boss.

In terms of Acts 1 and 2, we made some final touches and they are done for now. However, they have changed slightly from last week. Our narrative designer added somewhat of a backstory to Act 1. Previously, Act 1 started with the protagonist sneaking into the mansion. However, the act now starts with young Markus and his parents living in a shack in the woods before later showing the shack burning down and Markus escaping. Honestly, I wasn't too sure about this addition, but having a backstory scene might make the player more motivated to play the game as the new scene makes them feel empathetic towards the protagonist.

I also drew up a rough sketch of how I envisioned Lady Ophelia, which later was dramatically improves by Zahra, who will be making her model.

That's all for now! We've pretty much finished the narrative so we're all going to focus more on our roles now.

Thanks for reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DABrin
