For the past two weeks, I have been working on UI design and also music. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I will no longer be composing music for our game, but I will ensure to find sounds both diegetic and non-diegetic that will suit our game very well.
In terms of the sound I have already discussed the two piano pieces which I was taking influence from and we will use one of those for our masquerade ball, but the other sounds we need include:
Fire sounds
Party/Mansion ambience
Lock picking sounds
Combustion sound effect
Unlocking a safe and door sound
Opening a window sound effect
Flashback sound effect
Footsteps
I have found all of these sounds and all that's left is implementation. I've also prepared another song to play during the fire cutscene, just to enhance the emotion in the scene.
In terms of UI design, I have made a few buttons that could be used for the Menu, Exit and so on, just the traditional buttons, but I'm not sure if they will be used in the prototype, but it's better to have them than not. I have also made a logo for our game, but we actually already have one. However, two is better than one! The logo I have will be available if it is ever needed. I have designed an outline for the minimap and icons to go within as well as hand pointers that will be used when interacting with items. Lastly, I have made a 'game over' and a 'task complete' screen for when those conditions are met.
I have also been progressing with the storyboards and have gone on to start drawing up Act 3. I should be done very soon!!
